INTRODUCTION: YOUR IDENTITY IS YOUR CALLING CARD

You are here because you want to attract more clients, raise more capital, and bring in Right Fit partners or investors.

You have probably built a successful business and are either ready to pivot or take it to the next level.

Bottom line: You know you are not done yet. You truly feel the best and brightest days are ahead of you.

BUT you also know: what got you here will not get you where you want to go.

Your identity (how you see yourself and how others see you) is truly the mother of the "Secrets to Success." It has the power to either propel you to your next level or hold you back forever.

There are people who never have the courage to master this, and thus never step into the greatness of themselves.

What We Will Cover

Your identity is your personal "calling card." This is the unique mark that only YOU can leave on the world.

This seed of your authentic persona is only present in you. You and you alone are the ONLY one in 8 billion humans on planet earth that have it.

We will explore how beliefs shape your identity, how your brain reinforces it, and why authenticity is your secret weapon to attracting clients and raising capital.

The BS Factor

What I call BS is the Backstabbing we do to ourselves, our belief systems that are limiting us and holding us back, and the benevolent sabotage.

With each form of BS comes a shriveling of our self-worth, undermining our commitment to our goals and a deflating of our human spirit.

When you BS yourself, it does not mean you stay where you are. It just keeps moving you further away from your ultimate goal.

Today I want to take you through this framework that will get you back to the "energetic powerhouse" that is inside you.

Once you let out that creative, energetic, caged persona, you start to feel different, look different, and you actually act differently.

I am here to tell you it is not age, or inexperience or complacency. It is just atrophied thinking.

If you have ever heard the recurring calling and the continual knowing that you have not done what you are capable of, it will keep knocking and if you do not answer the call, it can be soul destroying.

So the time is now. If not now, when? If not you, who?

SECTION 1: IDENTITY AS YOUR CALLING CARD

Your identity is how you show up in the world. It is what makes you memorable and sets you apart.

The Steve Jobs Story

Think of a guy who started working from his mother's garage. He was quite geeky and worked tirelessly. Often people did not understand him.

He had an absurd obsession with black GAP turtlenecks and he viewed Apples as a whole food group.

He was eccentric. Even as he became quite successful, many people including his own board of directors did not appreciate his unique talents, so they kicked him out of his own company.

Then something crazy happened. The company started to struggle and decline.

The company did not realize that the secret ingredient that created the recipe was gone.

Finally, the Board came to the realization that it was the Founder's Unique and Authentic Persona that brought forth the genius that made it all work.

They eventually brought him back and he went about creating the largest company in the world.

The turtleneck and the Apple became his trademark. He is studied, admired and celebrated around the world.

His unique identity as an eccentric, lone wolf became his calling card. It is why we remember him.

Of course I am talking about Steve Jobs.

SECTION 2: YOUR BELIEFS ARE THE FOUNDATION

Key Idea

Your identity is built on your beliefs about who you are, what you are capable of, and where you are headed.

Empowering vs. Limiting Beliefs

  • Empowering: "I can figure anything out." Limiting: "I am too old to pivot."
  • Empowering: "I am made to do this." Limiting: "No one will take me seriously."
  • Empowering: "I will add more value than anyone else." Limiting: "I am not an expert."
  • Empowering: "I can learn anything." Limiting: "I am not a leader, no one will follow me."

The gravitas of your beliefs is an amazing force of nature!

The Power of Beliefs

Beliefs come from everywhere: your upbringing, culture, past wins, and losses. They are the bricks that build your identity.

Sometimes we get stuck or forget who we really are and what we are capable of. That is how we know we are back to the atrophied thinking.

This is often accompanied by the desire to "fit in," and this happens at many different times during the cycles of our life.

We get away from exercising and leveraging our greatness. Just like losing your muscles, they are not gone, they just have not been used so they are weak.

This happens to all of us in some way.

The problem is that when you abandon your own "personal best," you cannot escape yourself. So it ends up weighing heavily upon you, because you know you are so much better than that.

SECTION 3: THE GREAT PATH FORWARD

Evolution Back to Excellence

To evolve your identity back to the well-honed sleek masterpiece that you are, you first need to see the beliefs you have been feeding it and decide if they are supporting you or sabotaging you.

Beliefs define who you are, but they can also limit you. The good news? You can change them.

They Have Shown Up Before

Your true beliefs have shown up during:

  • Times of courage when you are the overcomer, you can get through anything
  • When you harness your mental toughness
  • The indefatigable spirit is set free
  • When you are living life in the zone

Leave the Limiting Beliefs Behind

  • The sabotaging thoughts
  • The fear of failure
  • Dimension of distraction
  • The low energy, tired, frustrated, and lazy periods of weakness
  • This is NOT the real you, but preys on your self-worth and self-confidence like a vulture
  • The seduction of failure and fear is like a slow walk through a nightmare that takes a piece of your soul

Time for a Detox

Negative beliefs pile up like trash in your mind. Part of growth is taking out that trash.

We would never allow trash to stay in the house for more than a few days. Yet we let the trash build up in our mind and psychology, keeping it for a decade or more. Some people never get rid of it.

Remember: Our brain will make us consistent with our identity. Your brain works to match your self-perception.

So we must go back to a time when you were kicking it "in the zone," humming along at your personal best.

Proverbs 23:7: "As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he."

I have my own take on that: "As a man thinketh, so he shall reap."

The next level pro move is to believe it and then do it, not to do it then believe it.

When you embrace your inner calling and set it free, and truly understand that it is "a part of you" that you have sidelined, shut down, or shunted, time to bust out of the box.

Let it free. We all want to, but because of some crazy notions that are built on unfounded doubt and fear, we boxed them away. It is time to set them free.

Napoleon Hill: "Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve."

Think of it this way: You know what you are meant for and you know what you are made of.

Setting your greatness free is your responsibility to yourself, your family, your clients and your creator. If you do not, it is a heavy burden to carry all for the sake of doubt and fear.

Congruency

Your brain loves congruency. It works to align your actions with your identity.

CONGRUENCY is when Belief + Behavior is aligned and it = Identity

Strongest Need

The strongest need we have is to make certain that our behavior is consistent with our beliefs.

This is why the "pro next level move" is to begin with our beliefs, not our actions, because our beliefs will sabotage our actions.

This is the expedited version: LEAD WITH BELIEFS. That is the true pathway to power.

Key Principle

A high-performance identity fuels positive habits. A shaky one creates self-sabotage.

Shape your identity, and your brain will follow.

SECTION 5: BOLD AUTHENTICITY (CORNERSTONE TO IDENTITY)

Never Go for Coined or Scripted

Real impact comes from being raw and real, not polished or perfect.

Weaponizing Scar Tissue: The Hero's Journey

Your personal embarrassment, public failure, major mistake or career misstep.

What you learned from it, what that did to you, how it changed you, how you overcame it.

This is THE WAY. That is authenticity in action. When you "mess up" and "clean up," that is a story that everyone wants to hear. It is why so many movies are made about it.

Start thinking about your personal Hero's Journey and how it shaped you.

Connection to Inspired Community (Magnum Nation)

Being around peak performers (people who get it) helps you stay authentic.

They call you out when you are faking it and cheer when you are real.

It is critical to have a community that lifts you up, knows you can and inspires you to do more, be more, have more and wants to see you step into the best version of yourself.

They do not give you the BS (Benevolent Sabotage, Backstabbed, or their Belief System).

Remember: most people do not operate on a high performance platform. Most people play small.

The right community encourages you to go for your PR. They know you have it in you.

They have seen the Matrix, the secret code, the truth, what most people miss.

The SUCCESS TAX is real. People not aligned with you love to tear you down when you get out over your skis, but the truth is you cannot actually win if you do not get out over your skis.

This is why it is so important to make sure you have a community that wants to see you reach those crazy, farfetched and unreasonable goals.
